Kantar's Dutch Online Measurement Contract Expanded

June 9 2015

In the Netherlands, online publishing industry group VINEX and its partner Stichting KijkOnderzoek, (SKO) the body responsible for the reporting and monitoring of viewing behaviour, have expanded their contract with Kantar Media to include measurement of all online viewing behaviour.

Kantar's Dutch Online Measurement Contract ExpandedThe new contract, announced following an alliance between VINEX and SKO, builds on Kantar Media's four-year hybrid measurement solution which was awarded by SKO last year. The service will replace the Internet measurement contract that was previously operated by GfK.

The two organisations are overseeing a new standard for Internet ratings, called the Netherlands Online Bereik Onderzoek (NOBO), which brings together online traffic and online video consumption into a single panel. Kantar Media will expand the existing panel, which uses both its own and comScore's technology, by 30% to 5,000 individuals, and will measure online behaviour on browsers and apps across all devices, both streamed and on-demand.

Bas de Vos, Director of SKO, says NOBO 'heralds a new standard for Internet ratings', which will deliver significant benefits for the industry and stakeholders. Joris van Lierop, Chairman at VINEX, adds: 'Today's announcement will lead to a new standard for measuring and reporting online reach; a crucial component for all big media companies'.
