WPP Names Xaxis UK MD

WPP's audience profiling and targeting division Xaxis has appointed former GroupM exec Harry Harcus as Managing Director, UK.

Harry HarcusXaxis was formed in 2011, promising to bring together the global group's ad buying capabilities with a colossal database to offer clients the 'world's largest pool of audience profiles'. The firm now delivers results for more than 2,800 clients in 44 markets across North America, Europe, Asia Pacific, Latin America and the Middle East.

Harcus (pictured) joins after five years at WPP's global media investment arm GroupM, most recently serving as Senior Director of the Programmatic Buying unit, and previously as Digital Operations Director. Earlier, he worked for IPC Media as Director of Digital Advertising Operations, and he held senor roles at AOL Advertising, and Guardian News & Media.

In his new role, Harcus is responsible for leading the Xaxis UK business, including driving the growth of its performance business Light Reaction, and its native advertising unit plista. He succeeds Nicolas Bidon, who was recently promoted to global CEO of plista. Caspar Schlickum, CEO Xaxis, EMEA, comments: 'Harry brings a wealth of industry and institutional knowledge to the leadership of one of our key markets in the EMEA region. He will play a major role in driving continued growth of our UK business'.
