Howdo Hits the Ground Running

March 8 2010

In London, Howdo Research, a new consultancy established in the autumn by former NOP and JRA exec Simon Cheshire, is reporting a buoyant start to business.

Based in Clerkenwell, Howdo specialises in the food and drink, experiential and new media sectors, and has already won sizeable contracts from several clients in these areas: Cheshire told DRNO he hopes to hire additional staff in the second half of this year.

Cheshire has almost seventeen years' experience in the market research industry, the last four of them at JRA where he was Head of Online Research and headed up the London office. Before this he spent five years at NOP, then two and a half years at Continental Research and another five back at NOP, latterly as Divisional Director for New Media and for the Consumer Team.

He comments: 'I've enjoyed the best part of two decades working for excellent agencies. But the more senior I've become in these agencies, the more difficult it has become to put client interests ahead of the balance sheet, day rates and the like. So I'm taking a back to basics approach built around accountability, not accounting. It's nice to meet clients now without having one eye on the clock, and the success of the business in its first six months is testament to this.'
