Anametrix Adds Investor and Hires Counsel

April 6 2011

In the US, business analytics firm Anametrix has received an undisclosed amount of funding from private investor Walter Kortschak, and has appointed former WebSideStory exec Michael Christian as General Counsel and VP of Corporate Development. Both take up seats on the firm's Board.

Walter KortschakAnametrix was set up in 2009 by WebSideStory founder Blaise Barrelet and System Architect Anders Olsson. Since the launch, the firm has opened sales and technical operations in London and Amsterdam, closed a $1.15m round of investment, and established a Board of Advisors.

The firm's solutions integrate very large amounts of data from disparate sources including web analytics, social media, search engine marketing (SEM), video and audio, e-mail campaigns, market research surveys, point of sale (POS) and customer relationship management (CRM).

Kortschak (pictured), who invests privately in early and growth stage technology-enabled companies, previously led a $30m equity investment in WebSideStory.

Christian worked closely with Kortshak during his time as General Counsel at WebSideStory - the firm which later acquired Visual Sciences, merged into Omniture, and is now part of Adobe.

'Anametrix will benefit greatly by the addition of Walter Kortschak as a personal investor as well as a hands-on director,' states Barrelet. 'Also, Anametrix is lucky to welcome Michael Christian, who was pivotal in the remarkable growth trajectory of WebSideStory. Both of these gentlemen have extensive knowledge in analytics and online delivery models, and join as Anametrix is on its way to becoming a billion-dollar company.'
