Turim to Lead NPD's LatAm-bitions

November 21 2011

Retail research firm The NPD Group has moved Mark Turim, previously President and General Manager for its Asia Pacific business, to the same role in Latin America as part of a drive to expand its business in the latter region.

Turim will lead and develop NPD businesses in Latin America, and also joins the board of directors of Segmenta, a research firm tracking the prestige beauty industry in which NPD recently invested. Segmenta's coverage of Mexico, Argentina, Brazil, Columbia, Chile, Peru, Venezuela, and Uruguay complements NPD's own BeautyTrends tracking service in the US and Europe.

NPD itself already offers services for the consumer electronics, IT, and appliance industries in Mexico and the sports industry in Brazil, but aims to add more countries and more markets, including foodservice and toys.

Before NPD, Turim was Global Head of Operations for Ipsos and Global COO for Ipsos ASI - his role at the French-based group included the establishment of a worldwide Ipsos operations strategy and the implementation of its biggest ever 'Change of Process'. Before Ipsos, Turim was RI's Group COO and CEO for Latin America and spent eighteen years at IRI, including ten in Europe.

Turim says his return to Latin America is exciting: 'The region holds tremendous growth opportunity for NPD. We have already established several successful businesses here, and we are looking to make the region a focal point in our global growth strategy. I look forward to working with the outstanding NPD team in the region and to establishing new strategic partnerships.'
