Full service agency MRSS India has appointed former TNS India VP Kalyan Karmakar as Advisor Consumer Insights, providing support to the firm's digital, automotive, financial services and FMCG clients.
Launched last year by Asian firm Majestic MRSS and former Nielsen MD Sarang Panchal, MRSS India offers the country's marketers local access to technology for consumer insight generation.
Karmakar (pictured) joins after nearly three years at TNS, where he was latterly responsible for qualitative research practice in Mumbai and digital qual at a national level. Before this, he led the financial services division at Nielsen, and served as Group Business Director at IMRB, where he built the automotive research business out of the firm's Mumbai office. Earlier in his career, Karmakar served as Group Manager at Draft FCB (formerly FCB Ulka) and he was an SRE at PQR IMRB.
Commenting on the appointment, Panchal said: 'We know Kalyan through his work and contribution to the market research industry in India as well as abroad. His knowledge, associations and active presence in the industry will contribute a lot to make MRSS India as a brand with global technological leadership and hyper-local understanding.'
