Auction to Help Researchers in Need

March 17 2014

In the UK, the Market Research Benevolent Organisation (MRBA) is hosting its annual online charity auction, to raise funds for industry personnel who are in need of financial help.

Auction time again for MRBAFounded in 1977, the MRBA is funded by donations from across the market research sector, and provides financial help, advice and support to people who are working or have worked in the industry. Its annual auction is the organisation's most important fundraising event, and this year it runs until 2nd April.

The MRBA is calling for donations such as:

  • Time away at a holiday home, cottage or apartment
  • A new piece of electronic equipment - iPad, tablet, iPhone
  • Concert, theatre, or sporting event tickets that are difficult to come by
  • Cases of champagne, fine wine or spirits
  • A free service such as consulting; garden design; photography session; spa day.
So far, donated items include a five-day stay in a farm house in Percy, France; dinner for two in the Shard Oblix restaurant; a three course lunch and a Chelsea match at Stamford Bridge; and a hamper from Fortnum & Mason. Donations can be 'pledged' by e-mailing: linda.henshall@newfieldwork.co.uk .

In a statement, the organisation says: 'As the research industry's only independent, registered charity, the MRBA totally depends on the generosity of colleagues like you to continue their work. Most of the people they help get into debt as a result of an illness, injury, bereavement, or other personal problem that prevents them from working. Interest-free loans, grants; as well as support and advice; helps tie them over until they can get their lives back on track.'
