Hispanic Media Giant Picks Cohen for Research Role

March 24 2014

NYC-based Hispanic media group Univision Communications Inc. (UCI) has appointed Marshall Cohen as Executive Vice President of Corporate Research.

The group has television network operations in Miami and television and radio stations and sales offices in major cities throughout the US.

Cohen takes charge of defining the direction for all audience, programming and marketing research for UCI's television, radio and digital properties. He reports to Kevin Conroy, President, Digital and Enterprise Development.

Cohen has run his own media and entertainment research company, Marshall Cohen Associates, since 1992; and recently has also served as a partner at New York-based private equity firm Pilot Group, advising its portfolio companies including DailyCandy, acquired by Comcast, and OTX Research, now part of IPSOS. Prior to Pilot, he was SVP AOL/TimeWarner, building up its consumer research department and UI lab. From 1980 to 1992 he worked in the cable TV programming and distribution business at MTV Networks, serving on the management team that developed, launched and operated Nickelodeon, MTV, VH1 and the channel that is now Comedy Central. During this time he established The Nickelodeon/Yankelovich Youth Monitor, described as 'the first comprehensive nationwide marketing study of buying habits and influence of American kids aged 6-17 years old'.

Conroy: 'Marshall brings a wealth of marketing, research, digital media and advertising expertise to Univision', and welcomes his 'deep understanding of the digital media and technology landscape', and his 'background as a leader in consumer research and corporate strategic plan development for interactive organizations across the media spectrum'.
