Nielsen Catalina Plans Expansion in Cincinnati

In the US, shopper insight specialist Nielsen Catalina is planning to hire new sales people, analysts and consultants at its Vine Street headquarters in Cincinnati.

Mike NazzaroThe firm, which was formed in 2009 as a joint venture between Nielsen and Catalina Marketing Corporation, matches Nielsen media data with Catalina frequent shopper card data from more than 70 million households. Earlier this year, the company teamed up with Nielsen Audio (formerly Arbitron) to launch what the firms describe as the first single-source measurement approach built for the radio industry.

Having grown from 20 to 130 employees in Chicago, New York, Tampa and Cincinnati since its launch five years ago, Nielsen Catalina is now looking to expand the last of these operations, where it currently employs around 30 staff. CEO Mike Nazzaro (pictured) says the recruitment drive will prepare the company for future growth: 'We want to maintain or grow our fair share of the market, and we'll be in hyper-growth mode. We'll have to build the organization in a way that can handle that.'
