Publisher Schibsted Hires Twitter Data Science Man

Oslo-based Schibsted Media Group has hired former Google and Twitter exec Adam Kinney as Head of Data Science, tasked with creating insights and data-driven products for the group's companies and brands.

Adam KinneyFounded in 1839, Schibsted publishes newspapers and online classifieds, and offers multimedia and mobile services. The group has approximately 6,900 employees and operates in 29 countries.

Kinney (pictured) joins in San Francisco after four years at Twitter. Most recently he led the Analytics team responsible for developing metrics to measure aspects of the business, tracking trends in metrics over time, competitive and international analysis, and product insights and research. He also led data science models in the areas of user growth, retention and engagement, and social media interaction. Prior to joining the firm in 2010 as a Data Scientist, he spent five years at Google as a quantitative analyst, analysing web search infrastructure, measuring and analysing the quality of search results, and competitors' results.
