Tesco Moves Robin Terrell to Head of Customer Role

In the UK, Tesco has promoted Robin Terrell to the position of Head of Customer, replacing Jill Easterbrook who is transferring to head the retailer's Business Transformation programme from 1st January.

Terrell (pictured) has been with Tesco for nearly two years, serving as Group Multichannel Director. He previously held senior roles at House of Fraser, John Lewis Direct, Figleaves.com, Amazon.co.uk and Dell Computers, having begun his career at PriceWaterhouseCoopers. Easterbrook has been in the role only since June, but has worked for the company for the past thirteen years.

The company has recently restructured the top eight roles of its executive management team, following a reporting scandal which has resulted in Tesco being investigated by the Financial Conduct Authority and Financial Reporting Council. The retail giant managed to overestimate its first half profit by £264m.

As part of this management shake-up, Matt Atkinson's role as Chief Creative Officer and David Hobbs' as Group Business Planning and Strategy Director have been axed. Benny Higgins will take on responsibility for group strategy; Rebecca Shelley will lead corporate communications; Jason Tarry has been named Head of Commercial for the UK and the group; and CEO Dave Lewis will temporarily take over the day-to-day leadership of the UK operations, following the suspension of former MD Chris Bush. Group Commercial Director Kevin Grace, Finance Director Carl Rogberg, and UK Food Commercial Director John Scouler have also left the business.

Rumours have been circulating for some time suggesting that the firm is considering the sell-off of its data gathering and analysis subsidiary dunnhumby.
