Former Unilever COO Joins Nielsen NV Board

Retired Unilever exec Harish Manwani has been elected as a member of the Board of Directors of Nielsen, N.V. Manwani, who joined Hindustan Unilever (HUL) in 1976, rose to the position of COO, which he held until last month.

Manwani (pictured) became a board member of HUL in 1995, as Director responsible for the Personal Products business, and took the Unilever COO role in 2011. In between he was SVP of Global Hair Care and Oral Care in 2001, moving to the UK; then in 2002 President of Home and Personal Care of the Latin America division; and President and CEO of HPC North America in 2004. He joined Unilever in 2005 as President of Asia and Africa division, and was also made non-executive chairman of Hindustan Unilever.

He continues to serve as a Director of Qualcomm Incorporated (since May 2014), Pearson plc (since October 2013) and Whirlpool Corporation (since August 2011).
