Sony Hires Nielsen NRG Exec for Domestic MR Role

In the US, Sony Pictures has appointed former Nielsen NRG exec John Restall as Executive Vice President of Domestic Market Research, overseeing research for US theatres.

Sony Hires Nielsen NRG Exec for Domestic MR RoleRestall joins from Nielsen's film and home entertainment specialist NRG (National Research Group), where he most recently served as SVP, Client Consulting. The role included working as lead account manager for several studio clients, overseeing the design, analysis and management of ad tests, tracking, film screenings, positioning studies, brand studies, exit polls and focus groups. Prior to this, he was Director of Research Analysis at MarketCast.

In his new role, Restall will work alongside his international counterparts, and report to Theatrical Marketing President Dwight Caines, who comments: 'John has deep understanding of market research, combined with his experience and position NRG, giving him incredible insight into the best practices in the industry. That's a huge win for our studio. He's uniquely qualified and the best possible candidate to step in to oversee our domestic research group.'
