comScore and Kantar Media Win Czech Audience Tender

Czech Republic ratings body the Association of TV Organisations (ATO) has chosen Kantar Media and comScore to deliver a cross-platform measurement pilot of TV and video content.

The firms beat four other bidders in a competitive pitch, including GfK and Nielsen.

comScore and Kantar announced a strategic alliance earlier this year, promising 'faster, smarter solutions in cross-media measurement for advertisers and broadcasters'. The deal followed an assets-for-stock agreement a year ago between Kantar Media and audience tracker Rentrak, now in the process of being acquired by comScore.

The Czech service, planned for 'later this year' - which doesn't give them long - will use comScore's tagging technology and Kantar Media's online PeopleMeter technology to measure online video content for tablets, mobiles, PCs and laptops. TNS will recruit and manage the panel, and deliver data.

ATO Managing Director Vlasta Roskotova said the chosen firms had shown 'a sound understanding of our brief and an advanced solution to meet the needs of the industry'. She added: 'Measurement of video content across all screens and mobile devices is the future for Television Broadcasting in the Czech Republic. We look forward to seeing the results and identifying the research opportunities going forward as we prepare to review the ratings provider for 2018 and beyond.'

Kantar Media has won or extended ratings contracts this year in The Netherlands, Romania and Denmark, and says it now conducts TV measurement in 55 countries worldwide.
