BlackBX Launches Guest Wi-Fi Data Gathering Service

April 25 2017

In Edinburgh, tech entrepreneur Patrick Clover has launched a firm called BlackBX, offering 'legal guest Wi-Fi' which gathers raw data on a venue's customers and helps businesses engage with them.

Patrick CloverClients such as retailers, hotels, coffee shops and public transport organisations can monitor the connection flows from their log-in pages, and generate insight into how the business is performing. Data on return rates, head count, demographics such as location and gender, devices, and the time customers spend on the service is available, and can be used to create targeted marketing and promotional campaigns.

Commenting on the launch, Clover (pictured) said: 'In an ever-connected world, we are reliant on access to the Internet for so much and BlackBX delivers a reliable and secure way to provide public Wi-Fi. For businesses, the software can give you more insight into your customers enabling you to make better business decisions based on the data'.
