freenet CEO Vilanek to Chair Data Firm Webtrekk

July 7 2017

Berlin-based customer intelligence provider Webtrekk has named freenet CEO Christoph Vilanek as Chairman of the Board, with an eye to 'explosive growth'.

Christoph VilanekWebtrekk's customer intelligence platform brings together and analyses user and marketing data from multiple devices, allowing for automated marketing with DMP and third-party integrations. The company was founded in 2004 and is headquartered in Berlin with offices in Milan, Madrid, Amsterdam and Beijing.

Vilanek (pictured) developed freenet from a pure mobile comms company to a hub offering the likes of digital radio, DVB-T (Digital Video Broadcasting) and IPTV. Earlier in his career he worked at Time-Life International, boo.com and McKinsey; and recently he has served on the board of OOH ad company Ströer SE for four years.

In his new role, he will work with Webtrekk CEO Wolf Lichtenstein, another former McKinsey man and a key figure in the expansion of software giant SAS in the German-speaking countries. Lichtenstein comments: 'With Christoph we have found the perfect match. There are not many managers in Germany who are as creative and tech-savvy as him, and who have executed as many new business models in the digital industry. His expertise will be indispensable as we take our company to the next level'.
