WPP Buys Controlling Stake in Pierry

WPP marcom network Wunderman has acquired a majority stake in digital marketing agency Pierry, as part of its strategy to focus on technology, data and digital content. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Josh PierryPierry provides a proprietary MaaS (marketing as a service) and analytics approach to help clients manage their customer relationships. The firm is a Salesforce Platinum Partner with a full-service creative agency, and also provides consultation across strategy, UI/UX, branding, copywriting and responsive design. With offices in Redwood City, CA, across the US, and in Kyoto, Japan, the company employs nearly 100 strategy, creative, technology, and digital marketing specialists. For the year 2016 its revenues were $14.5m.

According to WPP, the investment is a part of its focus on three key verticals: technology, data and digital content. As a Platinum Salesforce Marketing Partner, Pierry will join other technology service companies which WPP has invested in, including ad targeting tech firm AppNexus, shopping comparison web site mySupermarket and virtual reality/augmented reality specialist Within Unlimited.
