Senior Moves and Hire for Nielsen Sports

October 2 2017

Nielsen Sports has shuffled and strengthened its leadership team. Middle East leader Jon Long will move to London in January as MD, UK and Ireland, to be joined by Richard Brinkman, former Global head of KantarSport. Long replaces Jon Stainer who has moved to an expanded MD Americas role.

Jon LongBrinkman, who takes the title of Commercial Director has more than 25 years of experience, most recently from SMG Insight where he is MD. Stainer will now oversee the business in the US, Canada and Mexico.

Long (pictured) has extensive knowledge of the UK sports industry having joined Nielsen Sports (formerly Repucom) from the International Cricket Council (ICC) to head up its Middle East operations. In ten years at the ICC, his role included strategy, marketing and communications, and external affairs and support services in London and then Dubai. He worked earlier for a major football brand, multiple international federations, and at the Olympic and Commonwealth Games.

Nielsen Sports Global MD Glenn Lovett comments: 'I'm excited to continue to strengthen our leadership position and commitment to clients in the U.K. & Ireland with Jon Long at the helm. I also want to thank Jon Stainer for his amazing work in the U.K. & Ireland over the years, and I know his passion for the business as well as our clients will extend overseas when he takes on his new expanded role of Managing Director, Americas, for Nielsen Sports in January'.
