O'Malley Named IDG Communications COO

In the US, technology, media and marketing services company IDG (International Data Group) has promoted John O'Malley to the role of Chief Operating Officer of IDG Communications.

John O'MalleyThrough its owned and operated properties advertising network - which includes media brands such as CIO, Computerworld, PCWorld and Macworld - and its events, IDG captures billions of purchase intent signals from users each month. Earlier this year, the group launched a predictive intelligence engine called the Pipeline Activator, which provides insights about companies actively researching products and services to purchase.

O'Malley (pictured) joined eighteen years ago after holding positions at Gateway and Compaq. During his career at IDG, he has worked extensively in the US, Europe, Middle East, and Asia in positions spanning strategy and business development, and he served as CEO of IDG's demand generation business and international sales and operations divisions.

In his new role, O'Malley adds responsibility for finance and operations to his current oversight of IDG Communications' engineering, demand generation and direct marketing functions. He also heads the company's data business and global data protection regulation (GDPR) efforts.
