IAB Launches in Hong Kong

Trade association the IAB (Interactive Advertising Bureau) has linked up with the Digital Marketing Association of Hong Kong (HKDMA) to launch in the territory.

IABs around the world'IAB Hong Kong powered by HKDMA' will be led by HKDMA's founding members - comScore, Facebook, Google, Next Digital, Oath, Pixels and South China Morning Post , the newly IAB-affiliated trade organization will -and will work with the international body to 'promote global standards and guidelines, create better ads and improve consumer experience, and advance social trust and the industry's interests in the Hong Kong marketplace'.

HKDMA is a recent arrival - founded in October 2016, but with more than 80 corporate members, all of which will now also become members of IAB Hong Kong. Members will get access to industry trends and data, best practices, workshops and events, and many other services. Hong Kong citizens average 2.3 mobile devices apiece, and compound growth (CAGR) in digital ad spend is expected anticipated to hit 10.3% between 2016 and 2021.

Dave Grimaldi, the IAB's EVP Public Policy, comments: 'With digital advertising revenues expected to surpass $1 billion in 2018, Hong Kong represents an important growth market for the global digital advertising industry. As a new member of the IAB global network, we welcome the opportunity to greatly strengthen our collaboration with HKDMA to help promote the growth of our industry in Hong Kong and beyond'.

Cecilia Chan, Executive Director of the new national IAB, says the move is 'an important milestone for the Hong Kong digital marketing industry and enables us all to elevate our industry to global standards and move it forward as digital becomes the largest advertising medium in the city'.

Founded in 1996, and with headquarters in New York City, IAB has 46 national IABs - including Ukraine where it launched last week - and spread across every continent.
