In Canada, research and strategic marketing firm Leger has acquired the one million strong teen and young adult panel from student and youth network yconic. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The buy will be integrated into the existing Legerweb panel, which currently has just over 400,000 members. Leger says this, its tenth acquisition, means it now owns the largest Canadian panel for polling and market research. Jon Kamin, MD of yconic, says Leger is the ideal partner to continue with the development and professional management of the panel.
Company President Jean-Marc Léger (pictured) comments: 'We are pleased to offer our clients the option of conducting more targeted and in-depth studies with these new consumers. In June, we will launch the largest Canadian syndicated study on the habits, expectations and needs of this new generation. We need to develop new tools to reach this increasingly influential clientele: young people think differently and therefore spend differently'.
