Del Prete is New IDC President

Thirty-year company veteran Crawford Del Prete has been promoted from COO to President of tech intelligence and events firm IDC, effective 1st February. He succeeds Kirk Campbell, who is retiring after leading IDC for more than 27 years.

IDC (International Data Corporation) combines market intelligence, advisory services and events for the IT, telecoms and consumer technology markets, with more than 1,100 analysts covering opportunities and trends in 110 countries. The firm was founded in 1964 and is a wholly-owned subsidiary of media, data and marketing services company International Data Group (IDG).

Del Prete joined IDC in 1989 as an analyst covering the data storage market, and in various roles has helped in creating the company's research and advisory offerings. In his current role as COO, he oversees and directs IDC's worldwide research, consulting, marketing, product management and client services business units; collaborates with senior management to set the company's strategic direction worldwide and oversee product planning and research.

Campbell joined the company as COO in 1990 and became President and CEO in 1991. Under his leadership, IDC has grown revenues more than tenfold and headcount fivefold to more than 1,900. He was previously an IDG Vice President responsible for corporate business planning and analysis.
