NPD Launches Duty Free Shopping Behaviour Tracker

In the UK, retail information provider The NPD Group has launched a service called Nationality Tracker, providing insight into the duty free shopping behaviour of travellers and how they evolve over time.

Garry StasiulevicuisDeveloped by York-based NPD Travel Retail, the new Nationality Tracker comprises a suite of interactive dashboards providing access to data collected from 22,500 interviews across 25 nationalities, along with charts/slicers for analytical purposes. The service, which combines real-time data with historical trends, is updated quarterly, enabling users to track the evolution of travellers' buying behaviour.

Information provided by the service includes airport activities, duty free metrics, duty free shopper profiles, traveller tendencies, duty free visiting and buying behaviour. It also offers data on digital behaviour such as device ownership, mobile app and social media usage, as well as airport Wi-Fi usage.
