eMarketer and Insider Inc. to Merge

June 14 2019

German digital publishing house Axel Springer has announced plans to merge its US businesses - market research subsidiary eMarketer and business news provider Insider Inc. - to provide a combined perspective on digital transformation for clients across a number of sectors.

Henry BlodgeteMarketer delivers trends analysis in areas such as digital consumer behavior and mobile shopping, including a benchmark of consumer behavior with industry-standard estimates and forecasts. The firm's figures can be used as input values for valuation models, market sizing and project fact packs. It will be merged with Insider Inc., which publishes news brands Business Insider and Markets Insider, which focus on digital transformation and are seen by an audience of more than 170 million unique visitors around the globe.

eMarketer and Insider Inc. are both based in New York, and jointly employ around 660 people worldwide. The two businesses will join forces on January 1st 2020, when Henry Blodget (pictured), founder and CEO of Insider Inc., will serve as the CEO of the new group; and Barbara Peng, currently President of Business Insider Intelligence (BII), will become President of the newly formed joint division for business information services. In addition, Geoff Ramsey, co-founder and Chief Content Officer of eMarketer, will become Chief Evangelist of the newly formed B2B division; while Terry Chabrowe, co-founder and CEO of eMarketer, will serve on the Board of Directors.

Commenting on the news, Blodget said: 'BII and eMarketer are both excellent at what they do, but combined, they will be a force to reckon with. Our plans for the combined group are ambitious: together with our colleagues from eMarketer we want to build the next generation digital research company that will be the go-to place for those shaping the digital transformation happening across all industries'.
