Rentrak Box Office Veterans 'Leave Comscore'

September 9 2019

Steve Buck, Comscore's SVP of Business Relations and Jim Zak, SVP of International Theatrical are among those to depart the company as it cuts 8% of its workforce, according to reports.

Steve Buck and Jim ZakBuck joined TV and film measurement firm Rentrak in 2002, served as VP and then SVP of Theatrical Business Relations, and moved to Comscore with the acquisition in 2015-16. Zak was appointed as Rentrak's SVP, Theatrical Worldwide Client Services and Product Development in 2013, and was SVP Movies and SVP of Theatrical at Comscore after the buy.

According to an exclusive on news site www.deadline.com the two execs, who it says built the Rentrak / Comscore global box office data system and 'took it to more than 25,000 theaters in 70 countries' are now departing the troubled company.

Comscore, whose shares have recovered a little in the last three weeks from a low of $1.48 on August 15th to $2.25 this evening, but are a pale shadow of their $23.21 selves on March 5th this year, is online at www.comscore.com . The current job cuts were disclosed in late August in an SEC filing, as CEO Dale Fuller reported that the management team 'is now exploring all aspects of the business including conducting a strategic review of all options' - often code for a possible sale.
