Ralphs Returns to dunnhumby as Head of Africa

Andy Ralphs has returned to Tesco-owned customer data firm dunnhumby as Head of Africa, based in Cape Town.

Ralphs (pictured) re-joins after four years at Mastercard Data & Services in Cape Town, where he most recently led the Sub-Saharan African Delivery team. Prior to this he worked at data science firm Quantium in Australia, in roles including Head of Woolworths Data & Analytics; for Australian supermarket chain Coles, latterly as Senior Manager Customer Analytics; and in London for health and beauty retailer AS Watson Group as Group CRM Insights & Analytics Manager (Europe). He began his career at dunnhumby, which he joined in London in 2002 as a Graduate Data Executive, before setting up the firm's Indian offshore analytics team; working as Client Solutions Director in Germany; and then serving as VP, International Business Development.

dunnhumby's South Africa team was established in 2012 to help retailer Shoprite better understand its customers, analysing the shopping behaviour of more than twenty million African customers. In his new role, Ralphs will be instrumental in leading the dunnhumby partnership with Shoprite and fostering relationships with the South African grocery retail industry.
