GfK is launching a panel to provide a comprehensive measure of the UK watch market. The new service will track sales of watches across outlets including jewellers, mass merchandisers, department stores and mail order.

Sales of individual items will be recorded, giving volume, value and price statistics - GfK will analyse by brand performance, price point and watch features including display type, strap material and drive type.

The first results - for September - will be available at the end of October.

GfK announced the purchase of the watch panel set up by French MR agency Société V among a series of acquisitions in April this year. Set up 15 years ago, the panel added French coverage to the global group's existing services in Germany and Italy.
