In the UK, mobile handset manufacturer Sony Ericsson has promoted Lennard Hoornik to the post of Head of Global Marketing, replacing Dee Dutta who is leaving after six years with the firm.
Since January 2006, Hoornik had been head of the company’s Asia Pacific operation based in Singapore, and before this was in charge of the Sony Ericsson global customer unit for Vodafone in Munich. He initially joined Sony Ericsson as Vice President of Marketing, responsible for launching the brand in Africa, Europe and the Middle East. Lennard was previously in charge of sales and marketing at Sony Corporation.
Commenting on his recent appointment, Hoornik said: ‘The time I have spent as head of our business in Asia-Pacific has been very rewarding and enjoyable. In my new role, I can use my regional business experience to strengthen our marketing efforts and position worldwide. I will be relocating back to Europe and based in London.’
Dutta has stepped down from the position he took on following a restructure in November 2006. He first joined Sony Ericsson as Global Head of Marketing Communications in 2002. The firm’s President Dick Komiyama says Dutta – whose next destination is unknown - had made an outstanding contribution to the growth of the company.
