AgbioInvestor

Matthew Phillips Scotland-based agrochemical and crop protection specialist AgbioInvestor has appointed Matthew Phillips as Consultant and Advisor.

AgbioInvestor was set up last year by John McDougall, co-founder of agrochemical and crop biotech consultancy Phillips McDougall, which was acquired by Informa in 2013. The company provides news and analysis to the crop protection and agricultural biotechnology sectors, including coverage of seeds and traits, 'digital agriculture', and commodities; while also conducting bespoke consultancy projects across a broad range of topics. In March, the firm partnered with agriculture researcher Kynetec to launch a market strategy software platform called 'sigma Select', offering access to information on the global crop protection market.

Phillips (pictured) set up Phillips McDougall in 1999, and ran the firm for nearly eighteen years. He previously spent a decade at agrochemical and animal health company and industry analysis business Wood Mackenzie, before which, he worked at Schering Agrochemicals and Inveresk Research.

Fraser McDougall, Partner at AgbioInvestor, said of the appointment: 'We are delighted to welcome Matthew in his role as Consultant and Advisor. His industry knowledge and experience is virtually unparalleled, and we are sure that clients will benefit from his significant expertise.'
