Heineken
In the US, brewer Heineken has named former Diageo executive Christian McMahan as Chief Marketing Officer (CMO), to oversee an import-brand portfolio that includes Heineken, HeinkenPremium Light, Amstel Light, Dos Equis and Tecate.
McMahan, who joins with more than 15 years of beverage experience, succeeds Ken Kunze, who spent 11 years with the firm and held the CMO post for the past three years. Kunze decided to resign saying that his next opportunity with the firm would have been outside the US and that he wants to remain ‘stateside’ for the time being.
Prior to working as VP of Marketing in charge of Diageo’s Guinness and Red Stripe brands, McMahan served as US Brand Manager for Smirnoff and Captain Morgan at Diageo. Prior to that, he worked at Sam Adams parent Boston Beer Co. He has a BSc from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.
‘We look forward to Christian joining the organization and are confident he will help us continue to elevate our marketing activities and drive our growth within the import category,’ said Don Blaustein, President and CEO, Heineken USA.
Heineken owns and manages a portfolio of beer brands and is one of the world’s leading brewers in terms of sales volume and profitability. According to TNS Media Intelligence, during 2007, the firm spent $136.2m on media measurement.
