Firms Invest in Sri Lankan KPO Resource

Mumbai, India-based KPO (Knowledge Process Outsourcing) firm Adventity, Inc. and Canadian firm Revanalytics are joining forces to set up a new Sri Lankan-based company, whose services will include market research and BPO solutions.

Adventity MD Global Transactions Sankar Krishnan announced the strategic partnership last week.

Raj Amirthanayagam, Sri Lanka born MD of RevAnalytics Canada told www.sundayobserver.lk that after the end of the [Tamil] war and with the global economy improving, Sri Lanka's economic growth 'should accelerate to 6% to 7% in the next 5 years', bringing the country new growth opportunities to develop knowledge and business process outsourcing solutions and attract foreign direct investment. He added, 'This is already creating a huge demand for research about Sri Lankan companies and areas to invest in Sri Lanka which creates opportunities both locally and internationally.'

Plans include the setting up of a knowledge based centre at the CINEC campus in Malabe and also several regional offices, with training programs for young people who would subsequently be given KPO assignments for work conducted from home.

Adventity's centres of excellence are located worldwide including Houston, Mumbai, Chennai and Dubai. With current wage inflation in India, Amirthanayagam said it was getting more expensive to conduct work from these centres, giving further impetus for the move into Sri Lanka.

Adventity will also be helping the Sri Lankan government with its ICT program, and to promote a new job placed education program.
