Cicero Buys Dan Jones
In the US, research and economic analysis company The Cicero Group has acquired polling and data collection agency Dan Jones & Associates. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
 Dan Jones and Associates conducts fieldwork using techniques such as CATI, face-to-face, mail, intercept and Internet; as well as providing analysis in the form of top line reports and cross-tabs.
Husband and wife team Dan and Pat Jones, who established the Salt Lake City-based firm in 1980, will both remain in their current roles for at least five years: he as Poll and Political Research Leader and the public face of the company, and she as the President, Focus Group Leader and manager of daily operations. The company will continue to trade under its existing name.
Cicero, which was founded in 1999, offers market research, strategic consulting and economic analysis for both the public and private sectors. It also manages panels of industry experts and consumers, employs 100 survey call center agents and has focus group facilities. The company has offices in San Francisco and Salt Lake City.

The combined company will have more than 130 employees, including statisticians, strategists and economists, as well as a large data collection team.
