Firms Team for 4G Business Planning Services

In the US, telecoms specialists Pyramid Research and sister firm Heavy Reading have partnered with broadband wireless market research firm Wireless 20/20 to roll out a suite of services for clients planning to launch 4G wireless networks and mobile broadband services.

Dennis MendykPyramid and Heavy Reading are owned by telecoms news organization Light Reading. While Pyramid provides advice on emerging market and service opportunities to leaders in the converged communications, media and technology industries, Heavy Reading's analysts focus on producing revenue forecasts for professionals working in the telecoms industry.

Separately, Wireless 20/20 works solely on the emerging broadband wireless market, and its WiROI Business Case Analysis Tool offers network operators and equipment manufacturers an analysis of the capital and operational expenses for deploying a broadband wireless network.

The trio's new suite of 4G business planning and consulting services have been designed to help companies develop business cases to raise equity, debt and vendor financing. By combining Wireless 20/20's WiROI tool with Heavy Reading's research and consulting, the firms say that operators will be able to more easily develop their 4G network architecture, technology roadmaps, and deployment plans in multiple spectrum bands.

'Operators planning to deploy 4G networks face a myriad of technical, strategic, and business complexities,' explains Dennis Mendyk, Light Reading VP and MD. 'Leveraging Heavy Reading, Pyramid Research, and the Wireless 20/20 WiROI tool, operators can base their 4G mobile broadband business plans on driving Internet service adoption and stimulating revenue growth in more than 100 emerging telecom markets.'
