Genius.com Lines Up Tracker Tech Patent

Marketing automation firm Genius.com has been granted a U.S. Patent Office Notice of Allowance for its 'deep clickflow' tracking server technology, which enables web site visitor tracking with minimal set-up effort; and for associated dynamic content insertion technology.

David ThompsonThe privately held company, whose headquarters are in San Mateo, CA, expects a patent this summer for the technology, which was co-invented by the company's co-founders David Thompson and Robert Seidl, as well as engineer Khai Doan.

The new technology is billed as a much faster solution than most current marketing automation systems which take between six weeks and six months to implement: it cites the case of BT which it says was 'able to implement Genius.com in one week versus an estimated 18 months with competing products'.

Robert Seidl, co-founder of Genius and one of the inventors of deep clickflow, says 'traditional' marketing automation and web analytics solutions require customers to tag sites with additional tracking instrumentation or JavaScript. The new technology 'short circuits all the technical and organizational limitations that slow down deployments and allows marketers to begin correlating campaign click-throughs to website visits in just 30 seconds.'

CEO and co-founder David Thompson comments: 'Our instant-on website visit tracking and collaboration technology has been a key driver in Genius becoming the most widely used marketing automation and B2B email marketing platform in the world... We are delighted to have the protection this patent affords us.'
