QSR Hires for International Expansion

Australian-based qual analysis software provider QSR has appointed Tim Macdermid in the new role of Vice President, Global Sales, with the aim of expanding into new markets across the Americas, EMEA and Australasia regions.

QSR is a privately owned company with offices in Australia, the UK and the USA, and claims 'virtually every major university in the US, UK and Australia' as clients. The company was formally established in 1995 but a predecessor operation launched its first software product, NUD*IST, in 1981.

The firm's NVivo 9 and NVivo Server 9 software will be released in October, and will allow users to analyze and work with non-numerical data - from documents, to videos, audio files, pictures and databases.

Based in Melbourne, Macdermid will drive global sales strategy across traditional markets such as academia, while expanding business across the government and commercial fields, in both the desktop and server software markets; and growing the company's training and consulting services.

He brings more than twenty years' experience in global sales, having worked previously in senior management roles at Oracle and SPSS, and most recently as VP of Sales at enterprise search software company ISYS Search.

QSR CEO John Owen says Macdermid's appointment will serve to strengthen the company's existing management structure and open new doors for QSR: 'Tim's proven experience in implementing successful sales strategies and his sound knowledge of the software industry will make him a valuable asset as we launch our new software and look to expand our global reach over the next 12 months.'
