The 451 Group Acquires ChangeWave Research

In the US, technology industry analyst The 451 Group has made its second purchase in a month by acquiring ChangeWave Research; a firm which quantifies change in consumer spending behavior, corporate purchasing, and other industry trends. Terms were not disclosed.

Martin McCarthyThis follows the group's acquisition of technology vendor research firm TheInfoPro earlier in the month. Previous acquisitions include data center authority The Uptime Institute, and Tier1 Research.

Founded in 1999, The 451 Group provides insight into IT markets and information on emerging technology segments. The company is headquartered in New York, with offices in San Francisco, Washington DC, London, Boston, Seattle and Denver.

Rockville, Maryland-based ChangeWave publishes syndicated research reports based on a weekly series of large sample surveys fielded to its ChangeWave survey network; a group of more than 25,000 business and technology professionals and early-adopter consumers.

'The addition of ChangeWave Research to The 451 Group's portfolio of companies dramatically enhances our ability to provide our clients with key proprietary survey data and statistically significant insight,' explains Martin McCarthy (pictured), CEO of The 451 Group. 'With ChangeWave and our recent acquisition of TheInfoPro, we are able to deliver a deep and valuable reservoir of primary data sourced directly from IT buyers.'

ChangeWave co-founder Dr Paul Carton will lead the new ChangeWave division of The 451 Group as its Vice President of Research. Prior to setting up the firm in 2000, he worked as a survey researcher and consultant for Marttila and Kiley, and was VP at Research and Management Systems, where he helped develop some of the first Internet communities for research and education in the US.
