Arbitron Veteran Joins Clear Channel

In the US, Clear Channel Radio has appointed Arbitron veteran Gary Marince in the newly-created position of SVP for Research and Development, working on analytics and audience understanding.

Marince, who starts later this month, will report to EVP of Research Bob Michaels, also a former Arbitron exec, who comments: 'I've known Gary for many years and worked with him at Arbitron, and I couldn't be more pleased that he is joining Clear Channel Radio.'

Marince spent the last fifteen years at the radio ratings firm, most recently as Vice President of Programming Services and Development, developing software to analyse PPM data on listener behavior and radio consumption. He also helped lead Arbitron's outreach efforts including 'Fly-Ins' and client conferences. He previously spent nine years as Operations Manager for Pittsburgh stations WWSW-FM and WWSW-AM.

Clear Channel CEO John Hogan comments: 'Research plays an increasingly important function in our industry, enabling us to assess the true impact of radio in the lives of our listeners as well as its increasing value to our advertisers.' He adds: 'Gary will play a critical role in expanding our research capabilities and advance our commitment to creating a best-of-breed in-house research function within Clear Channel.'
