NPD Group Opens Ops Centre in Ireland

Consumer and retail tracking provider The NPD Group has opened a new facility in Athlone, Ireland, for development as a Global IT/Operations Centre. Over the next three years, the firm plans to add another 80 employees to the twenty already based there.

The new jobs will be in the areas of data classification, data analytics, quality assurance and software development. Port Washington, New York-based NPD says the Irish centre will play an integral part in its global IT and operations plans, including the introduction of a state-of-the-art data management system.

NPD's Chairman and CEO Tod Johnson says one of the major reasons for choosing the location was the 'deep talent pool of well-educated and multilingual people' including the presence of Athlone Institute of Technology.'

The Group established a pilot effort in Athlone in early 2010, and is working with investment from IDA Ireland, whose CEO Barry O'Leary comments: 'The NPD Group made the decision to locate here in late 2009, and it is most encouraging to see this project develop at such a swift pace.'
