Ingres Promotes for CEO Role

In the US, data analytics specialist Ingres Corporation has promoted Steve Shine to the post of Chief Executive Officer and President, replacing Roger Burkhardt who left the company in December.

Steve ShineIngres provides business intelligence solutions, including the VectorWise interactive reporting and data analysis tool, to extract insight from historical data. The firm is headquartered in Redwood City, California, with offices in New York, London, Paris, Frankfurt, Amsterdam, Leeds and Melbourne.

Shine joined in August 2007 as EVP, Worldwide Sales and has since held the positions of EVP, Worldwide Operations and most recently, Co-President when he helped launch VectorWise.

He was previously SVP and General Manager for Sybase EMEA, responsible for helping the firm establish itself in the business intelligence market. Before this, he held senior management positions at Andersen Consulting, and at GEAC Computer Corporation, where he was President of the enterprise resource planning solutions portfolio.

Commenting on the appointment, Chairman Terry Garnett said: 'Steve is well qualified to lead Ingres into its next phase of growth. He has not only been a major force in driving Ingres to its position of strength today, but has shown the board all the attributes required to transform this business into a market leading provider in the emerging markets driven by the confluence of cloud computing, social media and mobile analytics.'

Burkhardt joined Ingres in 2006 as Chief Operating Officer. Prior to this, he was Chief Technology Officer and EVP of NYSE Group, and held various technology positions at Optimark Technologies and IBM.
