Upgrade and $4.3m for Opinionaided

US firm Kurani Interactive has secured another $4.3m in Series A funding for its Opinionaided iPhone market research app and Q&A community; and has released version 3.1 of the iOS app.

Dan KuraniOpinionaided received $1m in seed funding in March, following $275k last November. The latest round was led by SoftBank Capital and BlueRun Ventures, with contributions from all the firm's seed investors.

The new version of the app, available for the iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad, features a revamped user interface and allows users to post questions to the Opinionaided community, as well as externally using SMS, Facebook and Twitter. Users can select the age and sex of respondents they wish to include, or restrict a survey to their own circle. The new app also features comprehensive bios, online image search, and improved content targeting.

The firm says members have made more than 125 million responses in the year since the app's launch, and that the average user spends three hours a month on it.

BlueRun's Jay Jamison says his firm sees the app as the market leader in its category: 'Opinionaided addresses a massive user opportunity - real-time mobile Q&A - with a fantastic product experience. Their team has built a product that is optimized for mobile devices and has created standout user engagement and traction that has long-term appeal.'
