Health Info Firm Remedy Buys HealthCentral Platform

In the US, health information tech firm Remedy Health Media has acquired HealthCentral, a provider of online clinical and patient community resources and tools. Terms were not disclosed.

More powerful Remedy?Remedy provides health and wellness information in print, at the point-of-care and on digital and mobile platforms, and says its publications and tools are used by more than 150 million patients and caregivers.

The acquisition of HealthCentral will provide it with a platform for healthcare audiences seeking proprietary information and technology to manage their health concerns, as well as for marketing partners who want to connect with patients and caregivers. Remedy says its reach now includes 23 million unique monthly visitors to its health web sites, more than 17 million patients and caregivers at pharmacy counters nationwide, a 20-million member customer database, and a network of more than 600,000 physicians.
