Keynote Reports 27.5% Q2 Revenue Rise

Internet and mobile monitoring specialist Keynote Systems has reported a 27.5% rise in second fiscal quarter revenue to $30.6m, from $24.1m in the prior year period.

Umang GuptaFounded in 1995 and based in San Mateo, California, the company provides testing, monitoring and measurement products and services for clients including online portals, e-commerce and B2B sites, mobile operators and infrastructure providers.

Total Internet revenue for the quarter was up 13% to $14.4m, while total mobile revenue was $16.2m, increasing from $11.4m in Q2 last year. The firm's DeviceAnywhere mobile web site and apps testing and monitoring service contributed $4.1m to total revenue.

Total costs and expenses for the quarter were $29.8m, compared with $20.7m in the same quarter a year ago. Of this increase, $6.2m was due to expenses associated with DeviceAnywhere, and the remainder related to investments in products, sales and marketing. In consequence, operating income was down to $765k from $3.4m the prior year period.

Chairman and CEO Umang Gupta (pictured) commented: 'We are pleased with our second quarter results, especially with the 13% growth in our Internet business compared to a year ago and with our Keynote SIGOS performance, where quarterly revenues grew from a year ago despite revenue accounting and foreign exchange headwinds. Also, we are making steady progress integrating Keynote DeviceAnywhere into our operations and have started to see early examples of sales synergies among our product lines.'

For the third quarter, Keynote is expecting total revenue between $30.0m and $32.0m.
