smartDIGITAL Lands $2.7m for Interactive Kiosks

US-based kiosk firm smartDIGITAL has raised $2.7m in Series A funding, which it plans to use to expand its presence in Chicago with the launch of a new product line. The company makes interactive display units that store and analyse consumer behavioral data.

Getting engaged: smart Kiosks talk to consumers and store datasmartDIGITAL's kiosks are designed for placement in both indoor and outdoor, high-foot-traffic locations. They provide multi-touch screens through which consumers can interact with ads, share photos, or even purchase Groupon deals.

Through the firm's proprietary software, clients can then manage, monitor and manipulate resulting data, and also receive reports on consumer interaction and predictive analytics.

The company has also developed a series of apps that deliver branded messages and advertising, and monitor behavioral data.

The new financing, which has been led by Advantage Capital Partners with participation from Metropolitan Capital Bank, will be used to launch a new Elevate Digital product line, in a series of large customizable formats.

smartDIGITAL is also moving its headquarters to larger premises in Chicago, and plans to double its headcount in the next 90 days.

Founder and CEO George Burciaga comments: 'Our objective is to develop an interactive out-of-home platform that is national in scale yet locally targeted. Our software is the first to truly integrate rich media, messaging and advertising that controls the customer experience.'
