New Man at Alpine Summit

Analytics and modeling firm Alpine Data Labs has appointed Joe Otto as President and CEO, responsible for the overall strategic direction, growth and management of the company. He replaces Tom Ryan, who joined the company just over a year ago.

Joe OttoSan Mateo, CA-based Alpine provides technology to help clients tap into their information through the use of analytics. Its flagship product, Alpine Miner, has been designed to simplify the process of building analytics workflows and predictive models for massive data sets.

Otto (pictured) joins with 30 years' experience. Most recently, he served as SVP of Sales and Services at business intelligence firm Greenplum. Prior to this he worked for Sun Microsystems, Synergistics and Infolibria, and earlier in his career he held a number of roles at Cisco.

Alpine Board Director Tim Guleri comments: 'Joe is an extraordinary leader with a proven track record of achieving strong results. Alpine's initiatives include driving innovations in Hadoop and data science, extracting customer ROI from their analytics, and big data investments. Joe's leadership skills and industry background make him the perfect candidate to successfully drive these initiatives.'

Ryan's reasons for stepping down from the role at Alpine are not yet known. He joined the firm in January 2012, having previously served as CEO of test automation software firm the Fanfare Group, and before that as President and CEO of web services management company Actional Corporation.
