MindMixer Buys Social Media Intelligence Firm VoterTide

Online community engagement platform MindMixer has acquired VoterTide, which uses social media insight and news analysis technology to activate audiences around political campaigns, non-profits and special interest groups.

Nick Bowden and Jimmy WinterFounded in 2011, VoterTide is itself politically nonpartisan, but provides a platform and alerts service to help politicians and organizations engage their constituents online. The company also offers an app to enable consultants, fundraisers, lobbyists and journalists to find out what people are saying about political candidates on Facebook and Twitter, and to uncover what content voters are sharing with their friends via news articles, blogs and videos.

MindMixer says the technology, rebranded as 'MindMixer Insights', will allow its clients to access real-time social media intelligence tools to identify, capture, and hone in on hot topics, in order to build relevant communities during campaigns. Analysis of the results can then be analyzed to highlight trends and help clients to gauge the success of each campaign.

Nick Bowden , CEO of MindMixer, says adding VoterTide's technology to his firm's services will make clients more informed about their audiences and better equipped to 'bring them into the fold'.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but VoterTide co-founder Jimmy Winter and CTO Matt Barr will assume senior leadership roles in the product and technology team, while Leah Frelinghuysen will continue to serve as a Senior Advisor on communication and external affairs.
