SapientNitro's Thorpe Joins Cabinet Office Team

David Thorpe, the VP of Strategy and Analysis at marketing agency network SapientNitro, has taken a one-year secondment to join the UK Cabinet Office, where he will serve as Deputy Director of Digital Policy in the Government Digital Service (GDS) team.

David ThorpeThorpe (pictured), joins from SapientNitro's Miami Beach office, as part of the Government's 'Commercial Interchange Programme', which aims to tap into skills from the private sector. The GDS division, where he will work, exists to ensure the development of digital services is focused around users.

Before joining SapientNitro in 2011, Thorpe served as Director of Innovation at the US Institute of State Effectiveness, and was Global Director of Innovation at OgilvyOne Worldwide. He also served as Global Lead, Strategy and Insights at Young & Rubicam, and held senior positions at film, music, and publishing companies including Condé Nast, The New Yorker and PolyGram.

In his new role, he reports to GDS Executive Director Mike Bracken, who comments: 'David was a natural choice based on his tremendous experience in helping public and private sector organizations to understand and adapt to complex changes in their business environments. That's the kind of strategic expertise and drive we need to effect meaningful reform of the UK civil service.'
