pollster.com Founder Joins Law School

Veteran pollster Charles Franklin is joining the Marquette University Law School on a full-time basis, as Professor Of Law And Public Policy, with a remit to boost the school's standing in the field of political polling.

Charles FranklinFranklin (pictured) co-founded online polling site pollster.com in 1996, where his work became a widely cited source of non-partisan analysis of polling trends. After the business was acquired by the Huffington Post in 2010, he created PollsandVotes.com, to provide more comprehensive analysis of polling and voting data. Earlier, he created the site PoliticalArithmetik.

His academic research focuses on advanced statistical and graphical analysis of public opinion and election outcomes. As well as having previously served as President of the Society for Political Methodology, Franklin has been a member of numerous scientific Boards including the National Election Study, and a member of the ABC News election-night analysis team since 2002. In addition, he has taught political science at the University of Wisconsin-Madison since 1992, and he became a visiting professor at Marquette last year.

In his new full-time post, Franklin will continue as Poll Director in charge of the Marquette Law School Poll, which he will use to explore additional public policy issues and track upcoming political races of interest to voters. In 2012, he led the poll during the election cycle.

Joseph Kearney, Dean of Marquette Law School, comments: 'Professor Franklin brings a unique set of skills: he is a nationally renowned polling expert, able to communicate helpful information to the media, and a first-rate scholar of government and public opinion, able to engage in the academy on a high level. I am delighted to welcome him to the Law School on a full-time basis, and I anticipate the continued success and even expansion of the Marquette Law School Poll under his direction.'
