Singapore Uni and IBM to Launch Analytics Training Centre

IBM has announced a partnership with The National University of Singapore (NUS) to establish a Centre for Business Analytics, offering both students and mid-career professionals training for business analytics roles.

Rajesh NambiarThe two are working in partnership with the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB), to address industry demand for business-focused big data skills. The Centre will swing rapidly into action with a new Master of Science degree programme in Business Analytics (MSBA) starting in August this year. The curriculum is a joint effort by NUS Business School and the School of Computing, while IBM will appoint the Centre's Industry Director and contribute industry expertise and access to analytics technology and solutions.

The partners say the MSBA programme is the first in Singapore to bring together training in deep business strategy thinking and data analytics. In addition to general big data skills, the programme will pull in consumer data, financial and risk analytics.

Rajesh Nambiar (pictured), General Manager of IBM Services Integration Hub East, comments: 'We are pleased to partner with NUS and the EDB to mentor and educate the next generation of business analytics professionals and data scientists. Graduates will learn from Big Data thought leaders at IBM and will also gain access to our industry specific technology and capabilities as well as insights from our thousands of client engagements.'
