Wakshlag to Step Down as CRO of Turner Broadcasting

Media research veteran Jack Wakshlag has announced that he is stepping down from his role as Chief Research Officer of Turner Broadcasting System, at the end of March.

Jack WakshlagIn a memo to colleagues, Wakshlag explained the reasons behind his forthcoming departure: 'Over the past few months, I have been thinking deeply about my future; about my passion for my work and leading; and about what I haven't done yet and want to explore. It became clear to me that the time is right for me to step down as CRO of Turner Broadcasting to make way for what is next. I am grateful to the company for believing in me and my team by providing the resources to lead the industry.'

At Turner, Wakshlag (pictured) has been responsible for directing the company's domestiv and international audience development, marketing, distribution and sales research; and for supporting company initiatives in innovation and new and multi-delivery platforms. Among his personal achievements at Turner, he cited creating concepts such as digital ad load testing 'that gave us confidence to put our content online with full ad loads'.

Turner EVP Kelly Regal commented: 'Few have been more influential than Jack in vitally important and influential circles that reflect well on us all. People listen to him - and by people, I mean everyone from his staff and Turner colleagues to the press, our competitors and industry analysts - because of what he knows and who he is. What Jack says matters.'

Wakshlag joined the broadcaster twelve years ago, from The WB Television Network where he was Head of Research; and before this was Director of Research at CBS. During his career, he has also Chaired the Nielsen-funded Council for Research Excellence Media Consumption & Engagement Committee, has served on the Board of The Advertising Research Foundation and of the Broadcast Education Association. He was an associate professor of telecommunications at Indiana University from 1977 to 1986.
