Further Suspension for Indian Readership Survey

The Readers Studies Council of India (RSCI) and the Media Research Users Council (MRUC) have suspended results from their Indian Readership Survey (IRS) for a further four to six weeks, to provide extra time for a third party to complete the re-validation and audit of its fieldwork.

IRS suspended further...The IRS is used by advertisers and media agencies as an ad buying metric. Findings were temporarily suspended in February following complaints by several members of the Indian Newspaper Society (INS) who claimed it contained 'shocking anomalies which defy logic and common sense'.

Initially, the RSCI and MRUC decided to suspend the findings until 31st March, while a process for re-validating the study was developed. However, this date has now been moved back to provide additional time for a third party to audit the fieldwork. Until this is complete, subscribers are advised not to use the IRS 2013 data for commercial purposes.
